The goal in hair removal is for laser light to penetrate to the depth of the hair follicle. The heat from the laser light damages the follicle which will then no longer be able to produce a new hair. Hair revolves through three (3) phases of growth: anagen ( active-growing ), catagen (intermediate phase) and telagen (resting phase). It is only during the growing phase, anagen, that hair reacts to laser light. To reach all hair in a growth stage you may need 4-6 treatments with an interval of 3-8 weeks in between. It is important that the all hair cycles are treated to receive optimal results.
The challenge in Laser Hair Removal is to prevent the absorption of laser energy in the melanin of the epidermis that is present in darker skin types. Laser hair removal is an extremely safe and fast process and involves little or no recovery time. Some redness may occur following the treatment, but will disappear quickly. Compared to other hair removal options, laser treatment is much more comfortable and effective.
